5. Pea-ing in the hole

Before Wayne lifted and placed the shipping container inside of the hole, he lined the bottom with a thick layer of pea gravel. The gravel would serve as a soft cushion for the container while also filtering the soil underneath. By now, some of his neighbors understood what he was doing, but the “why” behind it all remained a mystery.
